Frequently Asked Questions
One common inquiry I receive pertains to preparation steps prior to a Reiki session. While there is no stringent protocol, for those eager to optimize their experience, here are several suggestions to consider:
• IF YOU DECIDE YOU WOULD LIKE TO : Be prepared to openly discuss any areas of concern, such as intense emotions, heightened stress, mental fatigue, mental health issues, negative thought patterns, or behavioral patterns you wish to address.
• Briefly inform your practitioner of any physical limitations, injuries, medical conditions, or relevant medical history.
• Consider refraining from consuming alcohol, red meat, and large quantities of heavily processed sugary foods, such as consuming a full pint of ice cream, for 12 hours before and 48 hours after the session.
• Avoid the use of recreational drugs prior to your session
I advise my clients to approach a Reiki session with the same mindset as they would a massage appointment. There's no requirement to meditate or focus on any specific thoughts. The optimal approach is to fully relax and embrace the treatment experience. Throughout the session, you're encouraged to embrace the tranquility, feel free to doze off if desired, or engage in conversation if it enhances your comfort during the session.
Following our session, I encourage you to provide feedback on your experience and consider whether a follow-up Reiki session would be advantageous for you, and if so, when it might be scheduled. While Reiki treatments can be safely administered daily, it's important to weigh the necessity against the potential investment involved. Alternatively, individuals have the option to learn self-practice techniques. As previously mentioned, the effects of Reiki can persist for up to 48 hours post-session, making a follow-up appointment typically scheduled within a week to several weeks afterward.
As a general guideline, scheduling a Reiki session every 4-6 weeks is beneficial for maintaining energetic balance and conducting a comprehensive energy cleanse. However, during periods of heightened stress, unexpected life events, or emotional challenges, it is advisable to consider more frequent sessions. In such instances, I encourage clients to reach out directly to discuss their needs and schedule subsequent sessions accordingly.
Although reiki is widely acknowledged as safe and non-invasive, certain individuals might encounter transient physical or emotional reactions after a session. These responses may involve mild fatigue, emotional release, or a temporary intensification of symptoms that the body is working through. Drinking lots of water is highly recommended after treatment.
Science (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20635803/)supports the notion that Reiki can be a beneficial resource for handling anxiety. It takes a holistic approach, addressing the underlying causes. Initially, it induces profound relaxation, calming your nervous system. Furthermore, it aids in releasing past traumas and negative experiences.
No, Reiki is nondenominational. Reiki isn't aligned with any specific religion, but it holds a spiritual essence. The distinction between spirituality and religion has led to confusion in understanding Reiki. While these concepts share common ground, they remain distinct. Spirituality revolves around the belief in your connection with the divine, whether you refer to it as God, a higher power etc. The goal of spiritual development is to enhance this connection and recognize the divine within yourself and the world. Religion, on the other hand, offers guidance on spiritual development.
It outlines the nature of the divine and provides structures such as texts, places of worship, and guides to aid in your spiritual journey.
It's possible to be part of a religion without a spiritual connection, just as one can have a spiritual connection without belonging to a specific religion.
Reiki is a straightforward healing technique that does not necessitate the abandonment or alteration of one's religious beliefs. Many Christians (https://www.reiki.org/frequently-asked-questions)who engage in Reiki affirm that it deepens their connection to God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. As a healing method, Reiki is seen as a means for them to fulfill their Christian duty of assisting others.
